DQ brings back sweet childhood memories each time I pass a curly-q sign. When I was very young my father passed away. To get my mom and I out of the house, my brother-in-law would take us on Sunday drives. We would always make a stop at DQ part of those drives. It cheered us up and we made sweet memories with my 6 nephews who were always ready for an ice cream cone. Thank you.

regina patrick February 25, 2009

I love the sweet treats at DQ, so sweet that they melt in your mouth

Debra Roberson February 25, 2009

I think starting the Sweet Deal Meal is a great idea! That way, you can fill-up no matter how hungry you are for a VERY reasonable price with the foods you LOVE! Thanks, DQ!!!

tina February 26, 2009

its fufilled idea from dq regarding menu

christine February 26, 2009

Dairy Queen to me is an institution:As a child my sister and i would go to movies on saturday and across the street was a DQ-we could not wait to get our ice cream. we grew up poor but always seemed to be abel to get a cone-To this day i still visit the same DQ with my grandson.

It is a great idea.

Rebecca Cash February 26, 2009

I remember taking my children to DQ after school-fond memories. The Sweet Deal Meal makes it affordable for families to make new memories and enjoy great food! Thanks, DQ

booby February 26, 2009

i would give anything to have DQ icecream right now!

Jean February 26, 2009

My deal would be to suggest to my friends that we stop at DQ for our “Dinner and a Movie Night”.

Jen March 2, 2009

Every summer when I was young my family would take a trip to Pennsylvania and on the way home we would make signs for the other car saying: “stop at DQ!, DQ DQ DQ”. And sure enough my dad would always stop.

My deal is to make sure I stop at DQ for my children whenever we pass one while on a road trip.

Richard March 3, 2009

as a former employee for 7 years it was a great place to work…
I never gained weight because there was something to do just about every few minutes…and there was the rushes…busy…but the quite times was cool…

I have put my application in so I can work there again part-time.

MR. Twist March 9, 2009

For all of the hardcore DQ’ers try a nerds blizzard. Its not on the menu but if you bring your own box of nerds and if you get a cool employee the will mix it in. If they do not, no biggie, it is just as easy to do yourself with a spoon. I like a half box to a small cup but you can mix to preference.

For all of you health nut DQ’ers, take your favorite protein bar, chop up your favorite protein bar, chop it up and BAM! You now have had your first of many protein blizzard

Carolyn K March 9, 2009

Dear Mr. Twist: Thanks for your post! You are not alone with your love of Nerds Blizzards, and I’m sorry we no longer carry them for you!

I sure wish we could recommend your suggestions! Unfortunately, we do not recommend that employees at any DQ restaurant add in items to products that weren’t purchased and sourced by the restaurant itself. This really has everything to do with all the issues with the safety of products served in restaurants, particularly given all the concerns over the past years with peanuts and tomatoes, for example…I know we can all find a number of examples.

Thanks again!

Sarah Riddle March 18, 2009

I know everyone has their favorites but 5 years ago DQ stopped making S’more Galore’s (and I’ve been dying without them ever since) and honestly I don’t understand why Peanut Buster Parfait’s are on the menu compared to S’more Galore’s, (and I’m not the only fan who feels this way). Anyway thanks for listening.

Melanie V April 6, 2009

I agree with Sarah!!! The Smores Galore was my favorite (and my best friend’s favorite). We use to always go to Dairy Queen to get them, and then one day I went to order one and I was told it was discontinued!! I about had a heart attack! That was the only ice cream sundae I liked from DQ…hell, it was my favorite ice cream dessert in general! DQ lost this customer when they discontinued it. BRING BACK THE SMORES GALORE!!!!!

Laurir April 6, 2009

I have been a loyal DQ customer for 30 yrs. From the time I was a child, DQ was always our family’s choice for a cool dessert, that was usually the fabulous “crunch cone”. Imagine my dismay, when it was brought to my attention that DQ’s were no longer going to be serving them!! I am totally dissappointed and feel almost betrayed by whomever at DQ decided to stop serving them. And to make matters worse, I haven’t received an answer as to why they are going to be discontinuing them. Although I will still go to DQ, my visits will be cut by two thirds at least. Oh, how I am going to miss the infamous “CRUNCH CONE”.

Carolyn K April 13, 2009

Oh! I can sure appreciate your disappointment! The Crunch Topping is a product that is available for individual restaurant owners to offer to their customers, however it is not a product that all “DQ” stores and restaurants are required to carry. The reasons vary for why the topping would be disconintued. It may be that there are just a few faithful fans of the topping, but not enough to justify carrying the product when another topping may be more popular. Again, I am so sorry, and I hope this helps a little.

Jose Gutierrez April 19, 2009

The Dairy Queen advertisement for the Midnight Truffle Blizzard says that I could get one at my local Dairy Queen. I thought it looked delicious. So I went to my local Dairy Queen and guess what?! There was no Midnight Truffle Blizzard!!! They were out! The commercial lies!! I want a Truffle Blizzard!!!!! Dairy Queen, why have you forsaken me?!?!?!

Carolyn K April 23, 2009

Jose – I am so sorry! The Midnight Truffle Blizzard has been HUGELY popular and we have heard from other customers about stores that cannot keep the product in stock. Please be patient and stop in again at your local DQ restaurant. I am certain they are working hard to bring that product back into their store so they can serve you and other eager Midnight Truffle Blizzard Fans!

Kevin April 28, 2009

Another vote for bringing back the S’more Galore Parfait… I always used to get that before it was discontinued and haven’t gone to DQ much since.

Please consider bringing it back!

Mindy April 30, 2009

I remember some 36 years ago when i was a brownie, our troop would go for a coin walk where the leader would flip a coin and if it landed on heads we would turn one way and tails the other, some how to this day I can not figure out how we always ended up at our local DQ. Great thing now is that I am the manager at that very store.

erin May 9, 2009

I loved the S’more Galore Parait. It was the best thing they had on their menu! please please bring it back or just let me know how to make it!!!!!

Megan May 28, 2009

I have many memories of DQ – like getting cones with my dad and driving around the block repeatedly while we finished our cones before we could go home so mom wouldn’t know. Of course, my dad also knows just about every DQ within 3 states and will tell you which one gives you the biggest, best cones, etc. Crunch cones were always our favorite and its just plain awful that we can’t get them anymore (at least in MN). Any idea what was in the crunch cone mix so we can make it at home?

Carolyn K June 12, 2009

Hi, Megan! The crunch coating you are referring to is offically referred to as Peanut Brittle Crunch with Sprinkles. It is an available product, but not one that is offered at all Dairy Queen restaurants. That is determined by the independent franchise owner of each DQ restaurant. According to our R&D Department, the Peanut Brittle Crunch is made by a variety of vendors across the country, and it may vary a little depending upon the vendor; in general it is made of crushed peanuts, sugar, and colored sprinkles. I hope this helps! Carolyn

Aster June 12, 2009

I’m also voting to bring back the S’more Galore! I’m expecting my first child and have been craving one! The problem being that, they no longer exist! Help a pregnant lady out.

I have the best memories of DQ. It was my grandmother’s favorite place and the two of us would often walk to the nearby one after I got out of school. DQ was also my first job, where I learned skills that have translated to my career today. It was where I had my first management position as well.

My grandmother passed away in September. Before she passed away I took her to the local DQ for ice creams together. She told that she was all set now, she’d had her Dairy Queen and she could die a happy lady. In the coming years I’ll be able to take my daughter (and my mother will take her granddaughter) to enjoy an ice cream from DQ and share stories about my grandma.

The Web Master June 15, 2009

Thank you for the feedback regarding your favorite Blizzard Treat flavor! I really was touched by your story about you and your grandmother.

dana June 27, 2009

Smores galore!!! Will this ever be back?!?!

jlstincer08 July 4, 2009

THANK GOD I FOUND YOU PEOPLE. I have been lost without the smore galore as well… and all i want to kno is if Dairy Queen will EVER serve them again. Thats my only question.

Meghan July 4, 2009

Desperately craving the Smores Galore Parfait!!! It’s been too long, I want to say almost 9 years, since I visited a DQ with the Smores Galore Parfait on the menu. PLEASE BRING THIS BACK!!!

Carolyn K July 6, 2009

Oh! I am sorry — the S’more Galore Parfait has been discontinued for years and I don’t know of any plans to bring it back. You aren’t alone, as you can see! I’ll make sure our product development team knows we have a passionate fan who contacted us via our Blog!

Carolyn K July 6, 2009

Meghan — I am sorry! I think you may be right on the time frame…it has been a very long time. At this time I do not know of any plans to bring the S’more Galore Parfait back, or for any similar product to enter our product line. I’ll ensure our product development team knows we have some passionate fans!

I feel the same way about the Hot Fudge Brownie Delight….

Nicole July 7, 2009

Bring back the Nerds Blizzard PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Carolyn K July 8, 2009

Wow! That’s a blast from the past — nearly 10 years ago. I don’t know of any current plans to bring the Nerds Blizzard back. I am sorry! I’ll make sure our Product Development team is aware you’d like this flavor back in DQ restaurants.

Eric L July 12, 2009

The Nerds Blizzard was all I had to live for, and my life has been a continuing downward spiral since it was discontinued. Please, if you value the life of this downtrodden soul, find a way to return this singular panacea to your institution.

The Web Master July 13, 2009

Good News is it looks like you have survived since we discontinued many years ago! I would recomend trying another flavor like Oreo is a classic or even M&M’s. Bad News, we are not looking at brining it back. Sorry!

Jaysen Strange July 19, 2009

Bring back the Nerd Blizzard

T. J. July 20, 2009

NERDS BLIZZARD!!! It’s something so simple. Just make the deal with Willy Wonka! I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.

Lucky Lucy Chance July 23, 2009

Please bring back the nerds blizzard, I am so sad its gone!

Rochelle July 24, 2009

I love the crunch topping….i know of a couple stores in my state that carry it, and I stop for a chocolate cone with crunch topping every time I am near one…please make it a required item in all stores!!!!

Alison July 26, 2009

I am with everybody on wanting the Smores galore back. I worked there while they had them and you can try to recreate it at home but it will never be the same. They used cocoa fudge and their special marshmallow sauce with crumbled grahmcracker.

Carrie July 27, 2009

I too ate the smores galore while pregnant, my son will be 9 this September. Imagine my horror when baby 2 never got one. Bring it back it was my favorite. A peanut buster is NOT even close. I eat it and all the while am dreaming of the other. So sad.

The Web Master July 28, 2009

Thank you for the feedback regarding the crunch topping I will make sure to pass this off to the apprioate people. No Guarantees!

The Web Master July 28, 2009

I must say since we launched our Blog, Twitter & Facebook accounts we have found a strong passion for the Smores Galore Blizzard and Cotton Candy Blizzard. I’m sorry to say that neither of these will be coming back this year but I will pass all the feedback regarding the love of this Blizzard on to our brand marketing team!

Jeremy Erickson July 30, 2009

The cotton candy is the best. I lived in Elgin, Il and every restaurant still has cotton candy. I am moving to Rockford, Il and everytime I have to call my relatives to see how many cotton candy blizzards that I need to bring back with me. I do think that over $10.00 for one blizzard is crazy, but when I know they are limited and could be discontinued; I have no choice but to but the extra large options. If you are not going to be bringing it back for years, is there anyway to order the sauce and the cotton candy pieces. It could be a good selling supermarket-shelf or dairy queen counter item. If there is any way to get a hold of the items, i and probably countless others would be forever in your debt. If not, some free coupons for when they do become available could at least help to hold us over by having something to look forward to. Thanks…

alexis July 31, 2009

Laurir i am a dairy queen employee and we are NOT getting rid of our crunch cone we wouldnt do such a thing visit us in greenfield indiana

Lisa August 1, 2009

My favorite treat there was the smore galore. I remember coming in every other day just to have one. You should bring it back. I think you would sell those alot more than the peanut buster. The smore galore has more flavor and I don’t see how anyone could get tired of it. I loved it and it was the perfect treat to satisfy my craving. Please bring it back at least for a trial to see if you bring more customers in because of it. I’m sure if you brought it back for one month every year, like you do with the girl scout blizzards, it would be a success.

The Web Master August 3, 2009

I must say Jeremy we have some fans out there that just love the cotton candy Blizzard. Thank you for the recomendations I will make sure to pass this off to Research & Development group. As for bringing it back I’m sorry to say that I will not be coming back this year and for right now I’m not sure it will be coming back next year also. Thank you for your passion for Dairy Queen and especially this Blizzard treat!

Kristen August 5, 2009

One of my favorite indulgences is a caramel sundae from DQ. I think the taste and quality of the caramel is top notch. I used to love to get it with the mixed nuts on top. I’m not a huge fan of peanuts so this combination was great because it had such good flavor and really merged the sweet and salty for me. As I understand it, these mixed nuts are no longer available and I ended up with spanish peanuts with their skins on (not a fan). Will the mixed nuts ever come back?

The Web Master August 5, 2009

We will look into this for you and get back to you on this!

jamie August 18, 2009

I think cotton candy blizzards should come back they were the best!

cairy August 28, 2009

i am going to dairy queen tonight and i dont know what to get what is the best thing i can get!!!!!!

cairy August 28, 2009

i am asking the web master this question what is the best thing you can get!!!!

Sharon August 29, 2009

I grew up working at the dq along with two of my sisters. It was very much a family run business. One of my greatest memories was when you passed with your report card you were able to show it at the store and receive a free small cone. I wonder if they still do that? The owner also treated his employees very well with pool parties, Christmas dinners, and good pay!

LaDonna September 2, 2009

I just don’t understand why the most popular items get discontinued?? I worked at DQ and know that the smores galore was WAY more popular than the peanut buster parfait. PBP are just nasty with those spanish peanuts with skins. ewwww.
And the royal chocolate pb crunch sundaes…they were awesome!!
And the old fashioned sodas. mmmm.
I could go on and on. The treats back in the 80’s and 90’s are soooo much better than todays DQ choices. I’m not impressed at all with what’s offered now. I love dq soft serve, so when I get a hankerin’ for dq, i stick with my old trusty standby…the butterscotch dip cone. So please don’t kill me and discontinue the butterscotch dip cones.
It should would be nice if DQ actually listened to their customers instead of discontinuing everything good. I’m curious how they decide what gets discontinued and what stays. It can’t be lack of interest. The smores galore was probably the greatest addition to the DQ menu since the blizzard was introduced. I can’t tell you how many times I’d go to DQ and order a smores parfait and be told they were out of ingredients. I then would drive to various other DQ stores until I found one that could give me what I want. That doesn’t sound like lack of interest to me.
And to be totally honest, the way DQ keeps raising their prices so high, I will not go very often at all since they no longer have what I really want. I’d go daily if they had my smores!!

Carolyn K September 3, 2009

Hi, Ladonna: We’re so glad to hear from a DQ Alum!

I have some favorites that have been discontinued as well — and it IS disappointing. I belive my favorite that was discontinued, the Hot Fudge Brownie Delight, was out about the same time as the S’more Galore Parfait.

Products are generally discontinued because they don’t sell as well as others. There may be pockets of serious fans, and sometimes the products can stay on as a regional favorite in some stores, but discontinued elsewhere. Othertimes, while there are passionate fans, there just aren’t enough of them to keep the product moving out of the warehouses and into (and out of) the stores. Sometimes, it’s because there are other products that need to be introduced, because of public demand and trends, and a business decision has to be made.

I hope this helps a little!

LaDonna September 4, 2009

I really think DQ needs to go back to it’s roots. I don’t get excited over DQ much these days. It’s hard to get excited when your favorites are constantly being discontinued. Is there even a thing called the Mister Misty freeze anymore?
As a consumer, DQ should listen. Trends come and go. Your die hard fans ride out the trends. It’s only fitting that we be heard. Even if you can’t bring a certain item back for good, what’s wrong with a limited time offering??

LaDonna September 4, 2009

P.s. Your hot fudge brownie delight might not be on the menu anymore, but I believe you have the ingredients on hand to still make them. :)

Josh September 6, 2009

So you have not only discontinued nerds and smores galore, but you discontinued cotton candy… permanetly? Not even a monthly release?

Nerds was my favorite, and cotton candy was on the top of my list.

Recommend oreo or m&m? You can get a oreo or m&m blizzard anywhere. DQ, Sonic, A&W, McD’s. Heck, you can just buy half-gallon oreo or m&m ice cream at the store for less than what the blizzard costs.

What made blizzards from DQ so special was the variety. I can get a m&m and oreo blizzard anywhere. I couldn’t get cotton candy or nerds anywhere.

Don’t forget that there is a whole world of ice cream lovers who aren’t interested in chocolate overload. We like our sweet and tangy stuff.

Well, at least you still got an occassional kit-kat blizzard :-)

Carolyn K September 8, 2009

LaDonna — thanks for your comments! “Mr. Misty” is still around — it’s just called “Arctic Rush” now. The Freezes aren’t around any more, apparently there weren’t many of us who really liked them. I sure did! However, you may find that your local restaurant will make one for you if you make a special request to the staff. Flavors and products do come back as limited time offerings; the Cotton Candy Blizzard and the Brownie Batter Blizzard are perfect examples of this.

We are listening!

chelsea September 10, 2009

I think dairy queen should have a month where they bring back “the good ones”. you all ready have monthly blizzard flavors. why not try this out instead?

LaDonna September 11, 2009

are the oreo blizzards REALLY oreo? when i worked at dq they were hydrox…ewwwwww.

sue September 12, 2009

Whatever happened to the big cookies they used to carry? They were in the freezer with the cakes and they came in a pizza box. We used to buy them for friends’ birthdays in college.

liz September 12, 2009

i luv dairy queen so much. my all time favorite is the cotton candy blizzard. i die for those they are the best! but when they stop selling them i was really disappointed. i was waiting for months for it to come back. but i was just always disappointed. i would be the happiest person on earth if you sell the cotton candy blizard for at least one month that would be really cool. i would by 10 of them. so if you are planning to bring back the cotton candy blizzard please email. and you would be surprised on how many people luv the cotton candy blizzard. think about that.

liz September 12, 2009

bring back the cotton candy blizzard! go to some fan websites and look. and want to know something that I know and you dont. did you know that there is a WEBSITE all about cotton candy blizzard. its like a fan website for cotton candy blizzard. see how many people go there? like about 1000 or more. please here our voices. go to the fan website and look please. but just type in dairy queen cotton candy fan club. i will be shocked how people there are. so please bring it back for at least a month. smore galore and cotton candy together (not litarilly) but bring them both back on the same month! smore galore and cotton candy will make BIG money. i promise you, you will not regret it.

Carolyn K September 14, 2009

Hi, LaDonna! Yes they are REALLY Oreo ™ cookies. There was a time when both Oreo and Hydrox were carried; it is only Oreo now. Thanks for asking!

Carolyn K September 14, 2009

Hi, Sue! Those were our Treatzza Pizzas! They were really yummy, weren’t they? At this time, they’ve been discontinued and I don’t know of any plans for their return. Thanks for letting us know how much you liked them!

Carolyn K September 14, 2009

Ah, Liz! I am sorry that we’ve discontinued your favorite flavor — and I know there are others who love it too! It was a limited time offering each time it was offered; and while I know of no current plans to bring the flavor back, one never knows what will happen in the future. Thank you for your passionate support of Dairy Queen and Blizzards!

Katrina September 28, 2009

I love DQ, but why is there no more butterscotch for Dilly bars and dipped cones?… I’m heart broken.

Carolyn K September 28, 2009

I am sorry, Katrina! I cannot tell where you are writing from, so I’m sorry if there’s info here that doesn’t pertain to you. The Butterscotch Cone Dip is no longer available in Canada, and it has been discontinued system-wide there. In the U.S., the decision to carry Butterscotch Cone Dip is made at each independently owned and operated Dairy Queen store and restaurant. It may be that a location has such little demand for the product that it makes more sense to carry other products that are in much more demand. I hope this answer helps.

LaDonna October 10, 2009

omg, if the butterscotch cone dip is ever discontinued altogether, i’ll never go to dq again.

KansasDQ October 27, 2009

When I was a kid my favorite blizzard was the Grape Koolaid Explosion! I know this one wont ever come back (I work at a DQ/OJ in kansas) Also one of my favorites (i forget the name is was kinda recent i think it was two years ago) was a blizzard that had chocolate covered peanuts! That one was amazing and people loved it. But people would be really surprised of the number of choices of blizzards there are. Most DQ’s list only 10 blizzards which are the most popular when we have a very wide selection! I advise people to ask their local DQ on what blizzards they have that people dont order much that sounds good (like the cappuccino heath or caramel waffle crisp!)

BRS October 28, 2009

Good idea! Thanks for the advice, KansasDQ!

Zach November 1, 2009

Wait, wait…You discontinued the Cotton Candy Blizzard? That’s awful. I’ve been checking the Dairy Queen website EVERY MONTH THIS YEAR just to see if it will come back, and now I find out it won’t? That’s terrible. And I really do not enjoy most of the other flavors, so I really don’t have any reason to go to Dairy Queen anymore. :|
Like, seriously, I LOVE those things. I promised myself that when they came back, I’d get two every Friday of that month (Don’t worry, I run three miles every day, so I won’t gain any weight, lol).
darn.

BRS November 2, 2009

Sorry Zach! Check back in 2010, and you may find some Blizzard flavors that could become your new favorite and keep you coming back to DQ!
