Perfect End to a Family Event

For as many quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands customers have to choose from, there are many, many people passionate about which brand is the best. After working in the DQ® system for nearly 19 years, I am passionate about the DQ brand. It “IS” the best.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to go head-to-head against one of my nephews, who works for a DQ competitor. My husband and I were with him because his sister was getting confirmed. Their father is my husband’s brother, and we don’t often get to see them since the parents are separated and they live with their Mom.
Our group of 10 met at a golf course restaurant for a breakfast buffet, and starting learning what everyone had been up to over the last several years. That’s when I learned this nephew worked in the QSR industry. I playfully reminded him that I worked for DQ corporate headquarters and how much better my company is than his. We bantered back and forth throughout breakfast and during the drive to church about why I “know” the DQ system is the best, and why he “thinks” where he works is better.
At the end of the long day, after the church service, reception lines, photos and more, the group of us stood outside the church getting ready to say goodbye. My niece threw out the idea that we should grab a treat at the local DQ store. Everyone in the group agreed within seconds, except my nephew. Our friendly bantering had come to the ultimate pinnacle…we were off to eat DQ treats. Would he join us?
After a very brief hesitation, during which I’m sure he was weighing his options of enjoying a delicious DQ Blizzard® Treat or standing his ground about his place of employment being the better QSR, he smiled and said,” Of course!” I knew it. He couldn’t help but love the DQ brand. And as we all sat around a large table in the DQ dining area, I saw the many reasons why I love this brand. Here we were, all different ages, many years since we had last gotten together, enjoying our treats and talking as if we had just seen each other yesterday.
The DQ system has a way of bringing people together. And while it was fun making and taking friendly jabs from my nephew that day about where we work, it was much more enjoyable eating our Blizzard Treats together at the end of the day.
