DQ Chad’s Tour Recap- Lexington, KY
Posted by The Web Master under Blizzard,Creating Smiles and Stories on
Kids really do have the most fun. As a young boy growing up in Arlington, Texas, I did all of the typical things that little boys enjoy – climbing trees, riding bicycles and skateboards and I was always down for the weekly game of touch football at the park around the corner. It was a time of seemingly endless enjoyment and guilt-free indulgence. I was never concerned with counting calories or maintaining a budget. I was only motivated by the never-ending quest to have fun and I lived by only one rule: make it home before the street lights came on. Although I didn’t realize it at the time, I was having the time of my life. And unfortunately just before the 25th Birthday Party Tour began, I had forgotten what it was like to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
But over the course of the last two weeks, I’ve found a new source of inspiration. As the tour makes more stops in small towns and suburbs, more and more kids have been attending our store events and I couldn’t be happier. At our store event in St. Albans, West Virginia, I competed in a bicycle race and a “wheelie” competition (I lost both). And during a recent store visit in Lexington, I won the handstand competition before judging a dance-off between a group of really talented kids. And how could I forget the intense game of “baggo” against an entire little league baseball team during our event at the Lexington Legends game. The kids had a ball at each event, but the games reach a new level of fun once the parents join in. Just like me, the parents seem to instantly turn into 12-year-olds again when surrounded by a crowd of laughing children. With Blizzard treats in their hands and smiles on their faces, it seems the only difference between fans is their height.
So aside from our efforts to introduce the country to the new Mini Blizzard treat, while raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network, it seems we have found a new purpose for this tour – reminding busy, responsible adults how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
