What Do You Need To Do:

  1. Download the FourSquare application for your iPhone, Blackberry, or Android or visit the foursquare site and you can still participate by text message. Go to their site for more information: foursquare.com
  2. Visit your local Dairy Queen location on 10/10/10 and “check-in” via the foursquare application on your phone. See Official Rules and Restrictions
  3. Make sure that as you “check-in,” you include the update to Twitter.
  4. You’re done!!
  5. Winners will be selected and announced on 10/11/2010.

sucks that only certain phone users are able to enter – not everyone has these phones-iPhone, Blackberry, or Android.

I agree with Junie.. Not all people who love DQ have that technology. Some of us are a little older and have no need for it.

I agree with Melissa – it is not fair for those of us who don’t have one of those phones. I can’t afford that kind of phone (disabled) but certainly would like to be able to win the mini blizzards on 10-10-10!!!!

I was a member when you sent birthday coupons. I am still an avid lover of the blizzrd and past lover of the Breeze. I see that I must have a certain phone. I agree NOT FAIR.

I have 3 dairy queens in my town one is a grill&chill and the other two are not a braizer but a American original dairy queen so I am wondering what is the difference between the two because they both serve country foods?
Also what is the difference between a burger from a dq braizer & a burger from Texas dq?

Hi, David! All the DQ stores in Texas serve the Texas Country Foods menu; it is different from the menu served in DQ restaurants in the rest of the U.S. and Canada. You can find more information about the Texas Country Foods menu at http://www.dqtexas.com. As for the types of DQ stores and restaurants, in addition to the DQ stores in Texas that serve Texas Country Foods, in the rest of the U.S. and Canada DQ stores carry only soft serve products – the treats; DQ Limited Braziers carry hot dogs, sometimes grilled chicken, and if they have a fryer they serve french fries and chicken strips in addition to the treats; DQ Braziers and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants serve the full line of foods including GrillBurgers, Fries, and Crispy Chicken Sandwiches in addition to the treats; DQ OJ stores carry treats and Orange Julius drinks; finally, we also have Treat Centers that carry OJ, DQ, and Karmelkorn separately or in any combination.

I don’t have the things either to enter. This is so unfair to those who don’t have the technology to enter. And I go to DQ alot.

One thing that is different between Texas DQ and the rest of the world is that they don’t serve chocolate ice cream! =( very sad indeed! Please get them to do something about it. Thanks!

What if, in addition to not having these phones, we have privacy issues with the service(s) you are choosing to use for this promotion? DQ should have SOME means to alternatively enter the promotion. Almost every other promotion I have ever seen (from the ‘publisher sweepstakes’ to soft drink ringtone promotions) have some alternative means to enter their contests. This seems short-sighted. In fact, the terms of the promotion indicate the following “Violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual
property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement”

So, if one’s privacy rights are violated one is in violation of the rules but the entire premise of the contest is to publicly advertise you are at a given location which, in essence, is surrendering one’s private information. I think this is fairly disingenuous. The point is, many many people don’t use foursquare, twitter or any other service that advertises personal information and your response to them is (per the terms) “…do not enter the Promotion.”

that is sad that the ones that dont have text or i phones cant do it.. want about computers.. alot of people has computers.. its not fair..and i love dairy queen…

I love DQ. With a family of seven, we rarely all go together but DQ is a common destination when I slip away with just one kiddo for some “Mommy Time”……or maybe we should rename it “Blizzare Time!”

Give me a break!!! I personally don’t have any of these technology to try to win a blizzard. If you’re going to have a promotion make it available to everyone!!! I would expect better from DQ where I frequent on a regular basis. I’m so disappointed!!!

If you guys read the first direction it would tell you that if you guys dont have one of the smart phones how to go about participating… wow…

WOW, not fair to the ones that can’t afford these types of phones! I still know A LOT of people that don’t even have a phone! I’m disabled and barely getting by…no way could I ever begin to be able to afford one of these phones!

maybe those of us that don’t have these phones and cannot be in this contest should boycott dairy queen. maybe then they will listen or if we don’t spend our money at dairy queen then we can afford to blow are money on one of these phones.

Can’t remember what I asked but I am sure it had something to do with adapting the original contest over time considering the number of people who complained about smartphone only etc?
What changes were made from the beginning to completion of the contest?

The contest changed because foursquare added functionality which allowed people to use their site/application without a smart phone. Also in the rules we did have alternative way to enter to win.
