HA ha , what's wrong w/ eating something that was on the ground for a while? :)
Some of my favorite memories about DQ are going there w/ my church group on wednesdays .
We would always give our oreo blizzards the " up side down test"
of course it always worked . ...
That is IF you did it right after purchase! We had a girl who tried it when her blizzard was slightly melted . you can probably guess what happened next! Well , she had this WONDERFULL idea of testing her blizzard OVER HER HEAD!!!! needless 2 say we had a HUGE mess to clean up!

When I see a Dairy Queen (yes, I still call it Dairy Queen and not DQ - dating myself here) I am instantly transported back in time to the little, skinny kid who sat impatiently counting down the minutes on his watch until his parents would take him to Dairy Queen. We always stopped at the Dairy Queen either going to or from Grandma and Grandpa's house. Whichever direction we were traveling, I was always the one with that butterscotch flavored hardshell topping all over my hands. I enjoyed that ice cream for hours later.

When I was 6, my family went on the last family va-kay we would have with all 5 kids in tow. I woke up in a motel in Georgia with a case of the mumps, and after consulting the pediatrician, my folks were told to go ahead with the trip but keep me indoors as much as possible and away from the water for 6 days. On the way home we drove thru the same town where the mumps adventure began (in the days before the interstate) and we must have stopped at the local DQ. (That would have been a huge treat for a family of 7.) I still have my falling-apart scrapbook from that long-ago summer in the 60s, and a page has a red plastic DQ spoon taped to it with this wistful caption, "Fort Valley. End of vacation. End of mumps."
