We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 17, 2008. That morning, my husband told me he would take me to “any” restaurant for dinner, unlimited price. He told me to think about it but I already knew what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted to go to the Dairy Queen for a hamburger and milkshake, just like we did when we were dating. He was very surprised but delighted so we went to the Dairy Queen on Beltline Rd. in Coppell, Texas that evening. The dinner was a huge success (memories were great) and now he tells anyone who is around about where I wanted to go that special evening. We have enjoyed many Dairy Queens through the 50 years together and when on a trip, we often dine at one. The old DQ in my hometown of Gilmer, Texas has moved from its original place but we still stop by when in town to visit. Of course, our 3 children and their families came to our home in Irving, Texas the next day to celebrate with us, but that night will never be forgotten.

I have a picture of us that night at the Coppell DQ.

A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally drove into the curb at my local Dairy Queen drive-through and blew a tire. The owner came out right away and changed my tire for me, while my 5yr old daughter and I went inside & had supper. I am sooo thankfull for his time and effort and want to share this with others. THANK YOU!!
