DQ® Cake: One of the Easiest Decisions We Made… Really!

Amid the thousands (or so it seemed) decisions my husband and I had to make over the past year in planning our recent wedding, the cake was something I hadn’t thought too much about. I was too busy picking out a dress and booking the photographer, florist, reception site, etc. Sure, the cake is important, but there were other things that had to be done first!
Don’t get me wrong; I love cake, chocolate and anything sweet, but my husband is more of a Gummi Bears guy, so I thought choosing a cake we could agree on would be one of our hardest decisions. Was I ever wrong! One day my then-fiancé mentioned that we should have Dairy Queen® Cake for all of our guests at our wedding. At first I thought that was a silly idea. I mean, who has ice cream cake at their wedding? But after talking with one of my co-workers, I found out that’s exactly what she did too, and it was a hit with all of their guests. All of a sudden, it didn’t seem like such a crazy idea after all.
So we served DQ® ice cream cake at our wedding, and honestly, it was one of the easiest decisions we made. Not to mention, all of the guests loved it, including my husband, who made sure everyone knew whose idea it really was!

We had DQ cake at our wedding too! Our wedding was in August which was expected to be super hot, but it actually was cold and rainy. That’s okay though because we can eat DQ cake any time!

I decorate cake at our Dairy Queen here in Moose Lake Mn and i have decorated cakes for weddings, baby showers, etc and people rave over them – they love Dairy Queen ice cream cakes anytime, anyplace and an occasion
That’s so true! All of our guests loved the cake. We still get compliments on it!
Unfortunately we didn’t get any pictures of the entire cake, so this shot of the single piece will have to do. We had a separate non ice cream cake for the cake cutting.
We chose the regular DQ Cake–vanilla and chocolate soft serve with fudge and chocolate crunch. Each piece also had a green flower on top.

I just had an order for a wedding last month for 20 sheetcakes. I have another wedding next summer for 10. I had never done a wedding cake order before, and 20 sheetcakes was a tall order, but it went well. If you have a large wedding order, ask for a discount price. Most stores will be happy to give a good discount just to get a large order.

we had DQ at our rehearsal dinner 12 years ago and we always have DQ to celbrate birthday s ! My middle daughter is doing a report on traditions in the 1st grade – we have celebrated birthdays with DQ cakes back to the days that the cake was created – I want to say when I was 5 years old-
Was the DQ cake created in 1979 ????
Lisa, you are very close. Good memory! Our delicious DQ Frozen Cakes were first introduced in 1981. Keep up the great tradition!
