Nice Wonk,
I remember hanging out at the DQ in the early 80's. I still think of the time there was some kind of tomato fight in the parking lot and Wimpy ran a couple guys out of town. Ate a lot of 'Full Meal Deals' there when the food in the MLHS caf became inedible.
I still refer to the sports teams there as the 'Lakers' and my kids look at me cross eyed.
Thanks for the nice article Wonk!

Brenda,

Finding a DQ in "the land of Sonic" is tough. But thanks for being a loyal customer! Please stop back here again!

Curt,

I never realized that you worked there! Can you still make the curl on top of the DQ cone?? You must have a ton of good memories.

Thanks for your comments. The DQ may be gone, but we will always have the memories of all of the great times we had there.

Yes Dean, It was a sad day for me also knowing the DQ was ending the long standing tradition of serving their awesome I/C to us, now visitors, to Mountain Lake. I think the same memories that you shared hold true to almost all of us who grew up there. I remember after all the football games, we would hang out and just talk to everyone.

Thanks for sharing. It made me think back to all the good times I had growing up in the nice little town of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

Yes, I was driving through Mt. Lake and was sad to not see the DQ sign. Work there was fun back in the 80,s and I still never got sick of those fries after working there. Nice story.

I totally understand! There used to be several DQ's scattered all about OKC, OK. They are all gona now. There's onein Chickasha, which is a pretty good little drive for a whipper dipper(dipped cone)! But worth it! If I had the money for a franchise and building I would open one here. I know it would be very busy! I miss my DQ
