I try and take decent care of my body, and as my best friend, who happens to be a Dairy Queen® nutritionist, tells me, it IS possible to maintain a balanced diet while including DQ® treats in moderation.
Here’s the problem: Who wants to eat DQ treats in moderation?
It’s the same EVERY time we go into a store; I get an Arctic Rush® slush (140 calories), then longingly stare at my husband as he eats his medium Blizzard® Treat (a few more than 140 calories). It’s not that he’s not in shape, he’s just the typical “stop drinking soda, lose 12 pounds” type of guy who really doesn’t have to do much more than think about working out to actually lose weight.
I, on the other hand, have to watch what I eat. Lucky for me I’m a runner so my personal trainer (me) is always only a couple steps away from a great workout. And I’ve really been working hard lately because the October Blizzard of the Month, Pumpkin Pie, is my all time favorite. Plus, now, with the rollout of probably the best product on the DQ menu, the Mini Blizzard, I won’t have to work quite so hard to earn my Blizzard Treat.
What Blizzard flavor are you willing to go the extra mile for?

So. Did you hear the one about the goat wandering the Missouri countryside? No? You are in for some kind of a treat!
One DQ® fan from Bakersfield, CA, wrote to us and noted that this “Mexico Goat” (named for the Mexico, Missouri, area in which he was found) LOVES Blizzard® Treats!
Crazy!
The good news is the Mexico Goat is no longer wandering the countryside and is safe in his new home. Check out his Facebook Page!

LOLA
Laugh out loud. Actually.
It finally got to the point of absurdity when I realized I was LOL’ing at EVERYTHING. What a super cute picture of your dog, LOL. I’m going for a run, LOL. Who doesn’t like rice krispie bars, LOL. Insert random statement here, LOL. Honestly, it got to the point where peers and colleagues started to call me out on my LOL’ness.
At one point, after sending a colleague an e-mail with “LOL” at the end, she walks over and says, “You didn’t LOL, I heardyou not LOL.” Well no, technically I guess I hadn’t. Then it dawned on me, remember when you were younger and you would say, “that was so funny I forgot to laugh?” Had I actually forgotten how to laugh?
Never one to shy away from a compliment, I think I’m hilarious and want other people to as well. Do I LOL to encourage their laughter after something I’m not positive is funny enough to invoke a laugh on its own? I should have been typing “LOL?”
After realizing I wasn’t really LOL’ing I had to change it up when I was ACTUALLY laughing out loud because nobody trusted me anymore, I was like the boy who cried wolf. Hence, LOLA. Now people know I’m ACTUALLY laughing at something I find amusing. While the rest of text lingo hasn’t made an impression on me, I wouldn’t doubt the induction of LOLA into Merriam Webster Dictionary in the near future.
All of this LOL’ing has made me hungry; second Blizzard Treat® in two days? Don’t mind if I do. LOLA!

Summer vacation is over and most kids are experiencing the “first week back to school blues.” After a long summer of running around and playing outside, one of the hardest things for kids to do is go back to sitting at a desk all day. When I was little, my parents pretty much had to drag me out of bed to get me up for school.
So, parents, why not ease the pain of the first week back to school by treating your little ones to a Mini Blizzard treat? If those tasty little treats had been around when I was little it would have really helped me out. But instead, all I got was a pat on the back. Talk about lame.

Happy 25th Anniversary to the Blizzard® Treat– and to Us!
My husband and I were married 25 years ago, and I think it’s cool that we celebrate our 25th the same year the Blizzard Treat does. We had a picture perfect day. Hollywood couldn’t have done it better – it was the end of August, beautiful blue skies, not too hot, and there was a full moon that night. Surrounded by our combined family and dear friends, we had the best time!
Here we are 25 years later, and I really wouldn’t change a thing. O.K. I would still like to be taller, and I sure wish my metabolism would speed up again… but as far as the marriage goes? Nope. No changes there. Not always perfect, sometimes pretty tough, and worth every minute.
We have managed to celebrate nearly every day this past week with some kind of fun gathering or event starting with a dinner at a fancy restaurant with our kids and my mom. And it looks like our celebrations are going to extend into this weekend as well!
Last year we celebrated my Aunt and Uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary – again a delightful celebration and they were surrounded with family and dear friends. I cannot wait to see what the next 25 years will bring for the two of us.
I know there were a ton of other weddings in 1985 – and folks are celebrating 25 years of all kinds of anniversaries. What are your favorite anniversary memories? How are you celebrating this year?
It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of our DQ®Operation Happy Birthday contest. We asked you to submit a creative video of yourself wishing our signature Blizzard® Treat a “Happy Birthday,” and boy, did you deliver! It was exciting to receive so many great entries to review. You made it quite hard to choose the top three! But remember, everyone who entered is a winner and will receive a $25.00 gift card just for participating!
