Mr. Misty® Kiss
Posted by JT under Throwback Thursday on
My Great Aunt Joan and I shared the same birthday. As a kid, that was about the only thing I knew about my Great Aunt Joan, but I was a big fan of hers because every year, to commemorate our shared special day, she would send me a card with a crisp $5 bill inside.
All year I would look forward to that card. And when it arrived, the first stop in spending my birthday money was up the street at our neighborhood Dairy Queen® store. At that time, the mid-1970s, my favorite treat was a Mr. Misty® Kiss—a push-up-style novelty made in stores from a Mr. Misty slush (now known as an Arctic Rush® slush) poured into a plastic tube and then frozen solid. A straw inserted at the bottom of the tube pushed the treat up and out the top. They came in all the Mr. Misty drink flavors, but my first choice was always purple. And as it happened, a Mr. Misty Kiss purchase left me with most of my birthday money still in my pocket.
Did you have a favorite Mr. Misty Kiss flavor?

OMG YES !! They were my Favorite treat at Dairy Queen. My Grama was the Manager at the Waterdown, Ontario DQ for as long as I can remember.. We lived in England during my younger years, and it was always one of the things I looked forward to the most for our Summer Visits to Canada ! My Auntie would stock her freezer with Dilly Bars and Mr.Misty Kisses
I was devistated when they discontinued them.. But DQ visits still bring back fond memories for me, of my childhood, and warm summer evenings at my Auntie’s house.. Shelling pea’s, and snacking on my Favorate Mr.Misty Kiss in the evenings..
My parents have owned the DQ in Tyndall, SD for a little over 30 years, and I remember having and making these as a kid! My favorite was the “Rainbow” kiss with 4 different flavors!
One of the great blessings of owning a DQ for many years was experimenting and making our own “private stash” of special treats. The Mr. Misty Kiss was no exception to my DQ mad science experiments.
The 4th of July was always festive with red white and blue Misty Kisses. Other crazy flavors were banana, coffee, raspberry tea and even chocolate ice.
As for the flavors that were sold to our patrons, orange was always my favorite.
To anyone who has ever assembled the tubes and made these, the “leakers” were always a “treat.” lol
do you have any sugar free icecream or low sugar
Lime was my favorite flavor! There wasn’t much better on a sultry summer day than a Mister Misty Kiss!
wish they would bring back the mister misty kisses not the drink but the popcicle one.
